Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and if you’ve forgotten to order a cake and don’t really have the time (or desire) to make one, don’t worry: Ina Garten’s recipe for apple crostata is there for Saving your vacation dessert. Like the 10-minute maple pecan cake recipe she shared earlier this week, this quick and easy recipe gives you all the sweet flavors your vacation needs – more than ever this year – without hours of fuss in the kitchen. (Hey if you’re the one who cooks. Thanksgiving dinner, you’ll do enough of it to bring the (smaller) turkey and side dishes to the table. ) Get your whipped cream and utensils as this is a recipe you just can’t get enough of.
« Instead of a traditional apple pie, I’ll make an apple crostata that is delicious and fun too, » said the barefoot Contessa about her contribution. She added, “I roll out the pastry, stack the apples in the middle, fold the edges, sprinkle with a sprinkle of cinnamon, and bake for 25 minutes. Classic Thanksgiving dessert, but updated! ”
The recipe is suitable for 6 people and is rated « Advanced » on the Barefoot Contessa website (although it doesn’t seem overly involved!). It comes from an oldie-but-goodie garden cookbook: Barefoot Contessa-Partys 2001!
Honestly, we’re grateful that the Food Network star released so many yummy alternatives and updates to our favorite holiday desserts – from this juicy applesauce cake to their ultimate pumpkin pie with rum-whipped cream. (Yeah, we’re drooling now too. )
