Lymphoma is an umbrella term for the types of cancer that start in the lymphatic system The lymphatic system is made up of organs and tissues that create white blood cells that leak infections and move them around the body It is part of the immune system

There are two main forms of the disease It was not known what form Bridges had

Hodgkin’s lymphoma affects white blood cells called lymphocytes It spreads in what the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) describes as an « orderly fashion » between lymph nodes It is one of the types most treatable cancer cases Non-Hodgkin lymphoma spreads through the lymphatic system in an unordered manner «

There are over 60 forms of non-Hodgkin lymphoma White people have a higher risk of getting non-Hodgkin lymphoma than black people, according to CDC

Both diseases can affect people of any age, but the risk of developing non-Hodgkin lymphoma increases as we age Hodgkin lymphoma is most common in people aged 15 to 39 and those aged 75 years or older Men are more likely to have lymphoma than women

People with either form of the disease may have swollen lymph nodes, especially in areas where cancer is growing They may also feel tired, lose weight, have a fever and having night sweats Since these symptoms are also linked to other conditions, the CDC recommends talking to a doctor if you experience them

Chances of surviving for at least five years after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma are 727 percent, according to National Cancer Institute An estimated 77,240 people will be diagnosed with the disease this year in the US composition 43 percent of all new cancer cases

For Hodgkin’s lymphoma, the five-year survival rate is 874 percent An estimated 8,480 cases are diagnosed each year in the US, amounting to 05 percent of all new cancer cases
