TWO people have died after a gunman opened fire in a Sonic restaurant in Nebraska and a truck filled with fireworks exploded in a drive way.

The suspected shooter was caught when emergency services, including a SWAT team, stormed to the fast food restaurant in Bellevue after flames destroyed a U-Haul vehicle.

911 callers reported that a male suspect wearing a helmet opened fire around 9 a.m.. Saturday 30.00 local time.

Bellevue police said in a press release on Sunday morning that officials were initially told about a possible bomb in a moving truck parked in the parking lot.

After the suspected shooter was taken into custody « without incident », « officers discovered four victims with gunshot wounds ». .

Two other victims were taken to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in critical condition.

More than 20 police vehicles responded to the building at 1307 Cornhusker Road, the Omaha World Herald said.

In the past, Sgt. Andy Jashinske of Bellevue PD told ABC subsidiary KETV7 that a person is in custody and the police are not actively looking for someone.

He said the bomb squad would be at the scene from 12 noon. 30 a.m. and look for other possible devices after an explosion tore apart a U-Haul outside of Sonic.
