UPDATE 12.30pm: A man was arrested and police interrogated another after allegedly stabbing a unit on Shakespeare Street Wednesday.

Police were called to report that a man was had been stabbed in the lower leg and was in front of the Mackay City Bowls Club around 9:30 a.m.

Preliminary investigations lead the officers to the unit complex across the street and to a separate location on Hamlet Street, about a block away / p> When paramedics were assessing the man on Shakespeare Street, the second man was arrested on Hamlet Street at around 9:45 a.m.

Sergeant Marcus Brown said the investigation was still ongoing but the police had established that the Men were known to each other and because of the incident there was no risk to the public.

« There was no danger to the public, both parties knew each other, » said Sergeant Brown.

« There was some sort of argument, if we speak to them in a quiet setting we’ll find out what’s going on. »

Sergeant Brown said police tried to contact the owner of a neighboring business who may have CCTV footage to help with the investigation.

UPDATE 10am: Police arrested a man after a knife stab in Mackay’s CBD.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the man and paramedics were still on site.
