Reservations issued for the three-tier panchayat elections will change the history of the elders. For the first time in 25 years, Mulayam Singh Yadav’s family has suffered a major setback due to the seat of Saifai block chief being reserved for SC women. Since the formation of the block, this family has been in possession of this seat till now. In the new reservation, the block of Mulayam family will not be able to become the head on this seat.
Since the formation of the Saifai block, the head of the block has been the chair of Mulayam Singh’s nephews, the grandson of former MP and Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav’s son-in-law Tej Pratap and his parents. At present, Lalu’s Samadhan and Tej Pratap’s mother Mridula Yadav are the main blocks. The Saifai Block head seat, considered the most important of the district, has been reserved for SC women this time.
In 1995, Saifai was made a block for the first time. Ever since then, this seat has been reserved for the general class and for the backward caste. Due to this, this seat has always been occupied by the large political family of the state. In 1995, Ranveer Singh Yadav, nephew of Mulayam Singh Yadav was first elected as the Block Head. After this, in the elections held in 2000, Ranveer Singh was chosen as the head of the block.
After his death in 2002, Mulayam Singh’s second nephew Dharmendra Yadav became the block chief. In 2005 self. Tej Pratap Singh Yadav, son of Ranveer Singh, was chosen as the block chief. After this, Tej Pratap was also elected in the 2010 elections. Tej Pratap was elected as an MP from Mainpuri Lok Sabha in the 2014 elections, followed by Tej Pratap’s mother and self in the 2015 election. Mridula Yadav, wife of Ranveer Singh, was elected the block chief.
The state government implemented the reservation afresh and issued a decree to reserve seats for SCs which have never been reserved for SCs. In the same decree, the seat of Saifai block chief was reserved for SC women for the first time.
Saifai’s administration also went from Darshan Singh’s family.
Etawah Darshan Singh Yadav, childhood partner of SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, was the head of Saifai Gram Panchayat for 48 years. For the first time he became the village head of Saifai in 1972, from then until the last election he was continuously elected as the head. After his death in October 2020, the District Magistrate handed over the responsibility of the post of Principal to his family’s daughter-in-law. But this time the election will be different. The post of Saifai Pradhan has been reserved for SC. After this, Pradhan’s command will come out of the hands of Darshan Singh Yadav’s family.
