A status yellow rain warning remains in place for eleven counties this morning after the land was drenched in heavy downpours last night.

While most of the land with a wet, rainy Day, Connacht, Longford, Louth, Westmeath, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan will withstand the worst weather with 30 to 50mm of rain.

The Met Eireann weather warning, which is valid until 9pm, says the There is a risk of a river and local flooding.

More rain and drizzle will move over the southern half of the country this morning and occur intermittently in the afternoon.

Tomorrow the rain will gradually be limited to the east and southeast as the morning progresses. Elsewhere, good, sunny phases develop with occasional showers and the risk of hail.

It will be colder for the rest of the week with widespread frost and rainy conditions at night, with rainfall, sleet and hail. Good sun magic too.

On Wednesday evening the lowest temperatures of -2 degrees prevail, while Thursday is a cool day with good hours of sunshine.

On Friday there will be some sunny sections, but on the weekend it will stay cold and the temperatures will drop to -4 degrees in places.
