Ebene Magazine - Robert Gamez shoots 92, then DQ after not signing a scorecard

ORLANDO, Fla. – Robert Gamez won the 1990 Nestle Invitational at Bay Hill with a Walk-Off Eagle.

Gamez followed an opening 79 with a 20-over-92 in the second round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational , and he was then disqualified for not signing his scorecard, which wasn’t nice: no birdies, only five pars, seven bogeys, five doubles and triples on the 11th hole (par 4).

The 52- year old Gamez hit what was arguably the most memorable shot in Bay Hill history 31 years ago when he pierced a 7-iron from 176 yards so the eagle could sink Greg Norman with one shot. Since his win on his Bay Hill debut, Gamez has missed 24 of 31 cuts at Arnie’s Place, including 13 in a row. He failed to break 79 in 10 of his last 11 API rounds.
