The new President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov intends to make his first foreign visit to Russia. This was stated at a meeting of the parliament of the republic by acting. Deputy Prime Minister Ravshan Sabirov.
According to him, the new head of the republic intends to discuss with the Russian leadership the development of bilateral relations, as well as the cost of natural gas supplied to Kyrgyzstan by Gazprom’s subsidiary.
The cost of gas in the republic is pegged to the dollar exchange rate. At one time, the Kyrgyz side insisted on this. However, due to currency fluctuations, the government of the country thought about converting settlements into rubles. This topic, among many, is supposed to be brought up for negotiations with Russia in the near future.
Gas is supplied to Kyrgyzstan from abroad. There are no own reserves of this fuel in the republic that could satisfy the demand on the domestic market.
A little earlier, the government of the republic handed over to the Russian side the Roadmap for the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation. According to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, the agreement on the development of the document was reached earlier during the meeting of the co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission of the two countries.
