Buckingham Palace is due to investigate allegations that Meghan Markle bullied several employees, it was announced last night.
A spokesman said they were « clearly very concerned » about the allegations that Prince Harry’s wife, 39, evicted two PAs and undermined the trust of a third.
Sources expressed concern that nothing had been done to investigate the situation at this point and nothing had been done since then, to protect staff from the possibility of bullying by a member of the royal family.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that its HR team will investigate the circumstances set out in the various allegations.
It states: « The staff involved at this point, including those who have left the household, will be invited to attend to see if lessons can be learned.
» The royal household has since some years of dignity in labor policy and does not and will not tolerate bullying or harassment in the workplace. «
After the allegations surfaced, Meghan claimed she was the victim of a » smear campaign « that she had before it aired of the couple’s highly anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey.
A spokesman for Prince Harry and Meghan said: « The Duchess is saddened by this recent attack on her character, especially as someone who was targeted, herself and works deeply to support those who have experienced pain and trauma.
« She is determined to continue her work to help fellow ühl build, and will continue to strive to set an example of what is right and what is good. «
Jason Knauf, the couple’s then communications secretary, filed a formal complaint about the claims to his To protect employees.
In his email, he said: “I am very concerned that the Duchess was able to harass two PAs from the household in the past year. The treatment of X was totally unacceptable. The Duchess seems to be careful to always have someone in her sights. She bullies Y and tries to undermine her confidence. We have received report after report from people who have observed unacceptable behavior towards Y. «
Royal Aides reportedly reached out to a British newspaper ahead of Meghan and Harry’s Oprah Winfrey interview due to air in the US on Sunday because they believed it was only a » partial version « of the two years the duchess emerged as a working member of the royal family. They are also said to be concerned about how such matters are handled by the palace.
The atmosphere at Kensington Palace is said to have been so « feverish » that Prince William and Kate Middleton decided to cancel the proposed separation between the households of the two younger royals to accelerate.
It was alleged that the staff were moved to tears, and one staff member said to a colleague, « I can’t stop shaking, » pending a confrontation with the Duchess.
