In the twentieth minute of the first half, Angolo put Goa ahead with a spot kick from Mander Rao Desai in the penalty area.

Madgaon: Mumbai City FC and FC Goa drew 2-1 in the first quarter of the ISL semi-final. Hugo Boomos scored in the 38th minute to give Goa the lead in the first half through a penalty by Igor Angolo. Goa took the lead again in the second half through Xavier Gamma but within minutes three minutes Mumbai came close through a Mauritanian fall.

In a thrilling match, both the teams put up a show of equal strength. The match was exciting in the first half as both teams put out attacking football. After Mumbai ‘s equalizer in the second half, the game often moved to handball and the referee had time to issue a yellow card.

In the 20th minute of the first half, Angolo put Goa ahead with a spot kick that Mander Rao Desai got in the penalty box after he missed George Ortiz. Earlier, Vignesh Dakshinamurthy had argued for a Goa penalty for dragging Alexander Jesuraj in the box but the referee did not allow it.

After waking up with a goal down, Mumbai looked set to reach the target at any moment. Finally, in the 38th minute, Hugo Bomas’ personal best helped Mumbai. Bhomas’ shot from just outside the box beat Dheeraj Singh to put Goa in the net. In the second half, Goa took an unexpected lead through Xavier Gamma as both teams played cautiously.

But the joy of the goal did not last long. Within three minutes, Mumbai equalized through a Mauritanian fall. The referee then issued five yellow cards in a rough match after conceding two goals. The second quarter semi-final between the two teams will take place on Monday.
