6th Pay Commission of Panjab: The 6th Pay Commission of Punjab has recommended to increase the salary of state government employees by more than two times and increase the minimum salary from Rs 6,950 to Rs 18,000 per month. An official said that it has been recommended to take effect from January 1, 2016.
An official spokesman of the Chief Minister’s Office said that due to the recommendations of the Commission, additional expenditure of Rs 3500 crore per year is expected to increase.
The spokesman said that the salary and pension of the employees is expected to increase by an average of 20 per cent. He said that the salary of the employees could increase by 2.59 per cent as against the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission.
As per the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission, all major allowances are proposed to be increased. This report, submitted recently to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, is being sent to the Finance Department for a detailed study. The spokesman said that the report will be implemented from July 1 this year as per the commitment of the government in the Legislative Assembly.
