Christian Eriksen scored one last victory when Inter Milan reached the semi-finals of the Italian Cup on Tuesday with a 2-1 win over 10-man AC Milan in a fiery derby duel.
The quarter-finals in San Siro was overshadowed by an argument between star strikers Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku, both of whom scored a goal that night. The Swede was sent off later in the second half.
Tensions were high when Lukaku missed the chance to put Inter in the lead in the 20th minute when Milan goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu replaced the suspended Gianluigi Donnarumma entered, saved with his foot.
And it was Ibrahimovic who scored the first goal in the half hour after connecting with Soualiho Meite’s cross and bounced off the right with the ball from the far post.
Ibrahimovic mocked Lukaku and enraged the Belgian by laughing in his face as the pair competed.
The duo exchanged insults as they headed towards the tunnel and an angry Lukaku was held back by his teammates.
Ibrahimovic received his marching orders when he received a second yellow card 15 minutes after the break for the fall of Aleksandar Kolarov.
« The booking for the dispute with Lukaku certainly resulted in the sacking of Ibr ahimovic influenced, « said Milan coach Stefano Pioli.
» He apologized like the great champion he is. But it wasn’t easy with one man less.
« I didn’t hear what you said, but you are old enough to take care of yourself. We have to look ahead. »
« Ibra has the malice of a winner. I think Romelu is growing even from that point of view.

Rafael Leao’s foul on Nicolo Barella gave Inter a penalty after 71 minutes when Lukaku shot over the underside of the crossbar.
Eriksen came off the bench with two minutes remaining and the unfortunate Danish Midfielder scored the winner with a sensational en free kick after an injury-related change of referee deep in stoppage time.
Inter will face Juventus or SPAL from Serie B in the two-legged semi-finals on February 3 and 10.
