Kolkata, March 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting in Kolkata today to bolster the BJP’s ‘Mission Bengal’. The BJP has made all preparations for the meeting to be held at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. The meeting is expected to boost the BJP’s campaign for the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2021. Film actor Mithun Chakraborty will also be present at the meeting.
The BJP is working hard to oust Mamata Banerjee from power in Bengal. The state will hold polling in eight phases from March 27 to April 29. Modi will hold his first meeting in Bengal after the Election Commission announced the polling dates.
BJP has announced 57 candidates from Bengal. Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Arun Singh has sealed the list. The BJP has fielded Shubhendu Adhikari from the Nandigram Assembly seat in the state. He will face Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Subhendru Adhikari, who has been in charge of Mamata’s Nandigram for so many years, is now in the BJP. Mamata and Adhikari came together in Nandigram and started a struggle against the Left parties and after 34 years there was a change of power in Bengal. Officials have expressed confidence that Mamata will be sent back to Kolkata after receiving the nomination.
Prime Minister Modi’s meeting will be attended by several senior BJP leaders as well as senior film actor Mithun Chakraborty. The announcement was made by BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya. On Saturday, Vijayvargiya met Mithun Chakraborty. In this, it became clear that Mithun will be present at Modi’s meeting.
