Anzac Day in Queensland will be « normal » with the church services and march in Brisbane CBD.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk made another announcement on social media, announcing that public commemorations in 2021 would continue as normal.
There are no upper limits on the number of events at events, while the services can run the normal COVID-safe plans or checklists.
It is understood that authorities are confident that people will come forward if a COVID outbreak occurs at an event.
Ms. Palaszczuk’s office confirmed that the morning service in Brisbane would be part of the memorial services, with the march being held in the CBD.
« In times of conflict, the Queenslanders do everything to protect each other, » said the Prime Minister in a four-line statement to her Facebook followers.
« Because we have worked together to ensure safety, this year we can safely gather to mark the sacrifices of those who have served. »
It is believed that plans were originally made for the march at the Brisbane Showgrounds in Bowen Hills.
Queenslanders were asked to light candles at dawn last year to commemorate ANZAC day. Most of the events have been canceled due to the pandemic.
